Grass of the field

Kristina Ramirez Jordan

As I was making coffee this morning, I looked out the kitchen window and saw how the recent Texas drought had left our lawn looking more like a hay field that had just been cut down. But I also noticed that there were spots, where there was some kind of shade from the scorching sun, that were still just as green as could be. This reminded me of how some Christians are.

When a trial or problem arises, some just wither up and let Satan have a victory in their life, while there are others who draw closer to the shade and comfort that Jesus, through His Holy Spirit, offers and they let Him fight Satan on their behalf and they come out the victors. They grow stronger in their faith, just as those patches of grass stayed green and healthy even during the drought.

So, which kind of Christian are you? The next time you are faced with a seemingly unmovable mountain of a trial, just remember to draw closer to the shade of Jesus’s love and protection and let him lead you to victory over the scorching fire of Satan’s wrath.
