Junk Drawer

Everyone has some kind of junk drawer in their home. Some have a whole room or garage. There are even hoarders whose whole house is full of things they can’t let go of.

Some Christians do the same thing with a habit or a “hidden” sin. We hide it in an area of our heart that we think no one sees, while all the while God sees right through the deception. These “hidden” areas are what keep us from being the best we can be for God’s work. It doesn’t even have to be something big, or something that is even considered bad by the world’s standards. If God has spoken to your heart, however, and has convicted you that it is not pleasing to Him, then for you it is sin. James 4:17 says, “Therefore to him that knoweth to do good, and doeth it not, to him it is sin.”

Don’t let the hidden junk in your heart keep you from doing God’s will for your life. We need to bring our hearts into subjection to God each day. This will help us tap into the blessings God wants to give each of us, but we forfeit because of hidden sin in our hearts.
